Responsibilities
Own administration of the company P&L forecast - Consolidate department-supplied revenue and expense inputs into a single rolling forecast model. Maintain forecasting assumptions, drivers, and version control. Run variance analysis versus prior forecasts and actuals; produce commentary on drivers. Deliver forecast updates on the agreed cadence and respond to ad-hoc forecast requests.
Prepare and deliver monthly and ad‑hoc financial management reports for ownership - Produce P&L, balance sheet roll‑forwards, cash flow bridge, and key metric dashboards. Draft concise variance commentary and highlight actionable items for ownership. Reconcile reported numbers to source systems and vendor deliverables before distribution. Package and present reports in owner-ready format (slide or report) and answer follow-up questions.
Administer sales and partner commission programs - Calculate commissions according to plan rules; maintain commission schedules and support documentation. Apply commission rules for new deals, adjustments, and chargebacks; handle calculations for exceptions and disputes. Coordinate commission payments and approvals with payroll and accounts payable. Continuously review commission calculations for accuracy and recommend improvements.
Supervise sales tax administration through our business partner - Provide required transaction-level data and supporting records to the tax partner on schedule. Validate taxability coding and review returns for accuracy prior to partner filing. Track filing and remittance schedules; escalate and resolve issues with the tax partner. Maintain documentation of nexus determinations, rulings, and audit-related communications in concert with tax partner.
Liaise with external bookkeeping and corporate tax accounting vendors - Set monthly deliverables and deadlines for bookkeeping and tax vendors; maintain vendor checklists as needed. Review and approve vendor-produced reconciliations, journal entries, and tax workpapers. Coordinate vendor timelines for month‑end close and annual tax filing deadlines. Raise and resolve quality, timing, or data issues with vendors and document remediation steps.
Lead month‑end close activities as they relate to reporting and forecasting - Review vendor journal entries and validate account reconciliations and accruals. Confirm revenue and expense cutoffs and resolve reconciling items prior to report issuance. Maintain close calendar and ensure forecast inputs align with close timing. Identify and track recurring close issues until resolved.
Maintain and improve accounting controls, documentation, and process flows - Update existing SOPs, checklists, and control matrices for forecasting, commissions, vendor oversight, and sales tax support. Develop new ones as needed. Implement simple automation or template improvements to reduce manual effort and error. Leverage AI to its fullest to accelerate all feasible financial processes without sacrificing human oversight. Monitor control effectiveness and propose remediation when gaps are identified.
Contribute to revenue acceleration - Routine analysis of customer payment velocity and escalation of problem areas. Light collections: payment reminders, collaboration with clients to discover issues and escalation to management as needed. Routine review of aging receivables with management. Pro-active communication with Account and Project management teams about receipt of trigger payments (e.g. deposits), lagging receivables, and trigger events (e.g. project completion), Execute monthly recurring and project invoicing from invoice templates.
Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and scenario modeling to inform decisions - Prepare sensitivity and “what-if” models for staffing, vendor fee changes, pricing, or commission plan changes. Quantify financial impacts and collaborate with COO on recommendations or trade-offs. Support business cases for investments or operational changes with data-backed analysis.
Act as the primary finance contact for internal stakeholders on forecasting inputs and discrepancies - Collect, validate, and reconcile input data from department owners; provide templates and guidance. Train or advise stakeholders on required data formats and timing. Escalate unresolved discrepancies to leadership with recommended actions. Maintain relationships across departments to ensure timely, accurate inputs.

Requirements
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in a professional services, agency, or other B2B services environment with responsibility for financial reporting, forecasting, and vendor supervision.
- Demonstrated experience building and managing P&L forecasting processes and producing executive-level financial reports.
- Hands-on experience with month‑end close tasks, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience coordinating sales tax compliance activities with external providers; familiarity with multi-state sales/use tax issues preferred.
- Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, modeling) and comfort learning or working with cloud accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite or similar) and reporting tools.
- Clear, concise communicator able to present financial information to non‑finance senior stakeholders.

Qualifications
Must Have
- 4+ years relevant accounting experience (professional services or agency preferred).
- Practical experience building or administering rolling P&L forecasts and delivering month‑end management reports.
- Direct experience calculating and administering sales/partner commissions.
- Experience supervising external bookkeeping and/or tax vendors and reviewing their deliverables.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with at least one cloud accounting system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting to company ownership.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accurate, audit-ready financial records.
Nice-to-Have, but not required
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential.
- Experience in or supporting B2B service businesses
- Familiarity with administering commission programs or variable compensation calculations.
- Skills in BI/visualization tools (Power BI, Looker, Tableau) or SQL for enhanced analysis or visualization beyond Excel.
- Prior experience improving month‑end close cadence or automating financial workflows.

2 or 4-year degree in Accounting or 4+ years equivalent on the job training and demonstration of skillset. The ideal candidate will have both.
